Nottingham Forest are thought to have discussed the prospect of signing Paraguay international Ramon Sosa.

The Reds’ first aim for the remaining of the transfer window is to strengthen their wide options. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has stated that he requires wingers to provide backup and competition for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.

Forest has already been connected with several wide men as they look for the perfect recruits. And Sosa is the most recent name to emerge as being on the club’s radar.

He is regarded as “one of the best players in Argentine football” because of his outstanding exploits for Talleres. According to the Argentine magazine El Grafico, the Reds are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

According to reports, the two teams have held discussions. Talleres is reportedly “negotiating the payment method and percentages of an operation” as they face the prospect of losing their “most dangerous weapon”.

Sosa, who has 14 caps for his country, rose through the ranks at River Plate, where he played 29 senior league games before departing in 2021. He went on to play for Olimpia and Gimasia before signing for Talleres in 2023.

Sosa, while primarily a left winger, can also play on the right side. He is known for his speed and dribbling abilities.

Forest has made five additions this summer. Carlos Miguel, Elliot Anderson, Eric da Silva Moreira, and Nikola Milenkovic have joined Nuno’s team, while Marko Stamenic will spend the season on loan at Olympiacos.

Nuno recently stated, “Everyone can see we need wingers.” The only natural wingers we have are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.

“You always have to add the correct pieces; it’s pointless to bring (players) in just because. We need to finalize everything with the guys we bring in.”
