Nottingham Forest Set To Sign Another Playmaker At No Cost

According to reports, Nottingham Forest could sign another Anthony Elanga this summer, this time on a free transfer.

The Garibaldi made a wise decision in July 2023 by signing the Sweden international for £15 million from Manchester United, and he went on to score five goals and contribute nine assists in 36 Premier League appearances in his debut season at the City Ground.

Not even Bruno Fernandes and Phil Foden scored that many goals in the Premier League last season.

Rumors suggest Nottingham Forest could sign a player similar to Anthony Elanga.

Nottingham Forest could sign Anthony Elanga 2.0 for free as Manchester United prepare to release Omari Forson

According to the Manchester Evening News, Omari Forson is expected to be released by Manchester United after the club failed to reach an agreement on a new deal with the 19-year-old player.

Like Elanga, the England U20 international can play anywhere on the frontline, appearing on the left, right, and centrally during the 2023/24 season, as evidenced by his Transfermarkt page.

The two also have an excellent turn of speed and directness when running at defenders.

Interestingly, Elanga and Forson did play eight games together in the youth ranks at Old Trafford, with the latter probably looking to follow in the £15 million man’s footsteps.

Interestingly, the Manchester Evening News believes Manchester United wanted to keep Forson, but he has turned down every contract offer because he wants more playing time elsewhere.

The teenager made his professional debut at Old Trafford last season, when Erik ten Hag gave him four Premier League outings, one of which was a start, but another team now has the potential to get this promising youngster for free.

Ross Wilson needs to have eyes on the free agent market

Nottingham Forest must make a substantial sale by June 30th to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Even after that, Ross Wilson must find value in the market wherever feasible in order to save Nottingham Forest from losing any more points or facing financial difficulties in the future.

A prudent way to negotiate this position would be to take advantage of the free agent market, where talents such as Forson will be available this summer, among other exciting chances.

For example, the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Memphis Depay, Ryan Sessegnon, Kelechi Iheanacho, Daichi Kamada and Ben Johnson are all set to become free agents soon, so there is definitely a lot of quality to be snapped up for nothing.
