This might have been another busy summer of incomings and outgoings for Nottingham Forest.
However, unlike the 2022 and 2023 windows, it appears that a more coordinated, managed transfer strategy was in place this time.
Last year, for example, many of Nottingham Forest’s additions arrived near the end of the transfer window. Ibrahim Sangare, Murillo, and Callum Hudson-Odoi were all signed up just hours before the deadline.
Forest, on the other hand, has approached their business with greater zeal and determination in the summer of 2024.
With two weeks until Nuno Espirito Santo’s side’s season opener against AFC Bournemouth at the City Ground, their team appears to be more balanced and stable than at any other moment since their return to the Premier League.
Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, midfielder Elliot Anderson, and massive center-back Nikola Milenkovic were all signed before the beginning of August.
Jota Silva, a Portuguese international who scored 15 goals for Vitoria de Guimaraes previous season, also signed on Thursday. While Nottingham Forest has regularly been accused of overspending, the’special’ Jota joins for a bargain sum of under £6 million.
Nottingham Forest now want Talleres star Ramon Sosa
Ramon Sosa is next in line.
According to HITC, Nottingham Forest are in talks with Argentine club Tallares about signing the Paraguay international to join fellow wideman Jota in the East Midlands.
Nothing has been decided at this point.
Tallares are reportedly holding out for a cost of up to £16 million, according to La Voz, while president Andres Fassi says that he is not yet ready to fly to England and discuss the transaction with Forest in person.
“I will travel if our agreement is fulfilled. For the time being, it is not like that,” Fassi explains, stressing that the transaction is still up in the air after Forest ‘changed’ their attitude in the most recent round of negotiations.
Both parties appear to be confident that a deal will be reached soon.
Talleres’ head coach, Walter Ribonetto, plainly does not expect to have Sosa at his disposal for much longer, believing that the winger’s ‘exit’ is all but certain.
“We would look to sign three or more players. We require an attacking midfielder due to the large number of casualties. Ribonetto tells La Voz that Ramon Sosa, Ruben Botta, Nahuel Bustos, Gustavo Bou, and David Romero all left.
“We had important casualties and we need to complete the squad to have at least two players per position.”
Tallares boss expects Sosa to leave
The right-footed Sosa, who plays on the opposite flank as Jota Silva, has seven goals and six assists in 21 games for Tallares in 2024.
His agent has recently acknowledged interest from Chelsea and Everton, but Forest appear to be in pole position.
“He’s getting in good physical shape after the vacation he had and the Copa America,” Ribonetto said. “But Sosa, these days, has to finish here.
“I am really appreciative since he donated everything. He is a young player with a bright future, and we shall certainly miss him. So will his entire squad.
“But it is also the best for him and for the club since, obviously, he will be an important sale.”
