Nottingham Forest are currently preparing to make a bid for a player who was rumored to be on his way to Tottenham.

This summer, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has been busy in the transfer market, with Elliot Anderson joining from Newcastle for £35 million, as well as Nikola Milenkovic, Jota Silva, and Carlos Miguel.

Nottingham Forest is preparing to make a bid for a player Tottenham were considering signing.

Nottingham Forest to bid for Santiago Gimenez amid Tottenham rumours

According to a 1908 Dutch newspaper story, Nottingham Forest will bid for Feyenoord No. 29 Santiago Gimenez.

The Mexico international scored 23 goals in his 30 Eredivisie games last season, helping Arne Slot win the title before joining Liverpool.

It comes after TUDN Radio reported that Gimenez was on the verge of signing with Tottenham at the end of June.

Obviously, the information was incorrect, or negotiations halted, since there have been little updates on Spurs’ desire to sign the Mexican – who has been dubbed a “superstar” – as August begins.

Nottingham Forest are set to make a move for Gimenez soon, after being pleased by the 23-year-old’s performance against PSV Eindhoven in the Johan Cruyff Shield final on Sunday.

The Buenos Aires-born striker scored twice and assisted one as Feyenoord drew 4-4 with PSV Eindhoven before winning 4-2 on penalties.

Spurs must be alert

In our opinion, Spurs should match any bid Nottingham Forest makes.

Gimenez appears to be a great prospect with the ability to score frequently, having scored 28 goals in 50 games during the 2022/23 season.

Ange Postecoglou requires a dependable No.9 who can be relied on to score on a regular basis, so with UEFA Europa League football on offer – something Nottingham Forest lacks – we believe Spurs have a good chance of outmuscling the Reds in this transfer battle, if they match or better any bid.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Gimenez could soon be playing in the Premier League.
