Hwang Ui-jo has left Nottingham Forest to sign a permanent agreement with Alanyaspor.

The South Korean international has signed a one-year contract with the Turkish Super League club.

Alanyaspor confirmed the move on their social media channels. Forest have yet to openly announce the forward’s leave.

In July, the 31-year-old was charged with alleged sex crimes in his home country, following allegations that had already precluded him from being selected for the national squad.

The striker, who has 62 international caps, is accused of secretly filming himself having intercourse with two women who apparently had no idea they were being videotaped. This is said to have occurred four times between June and September 2022.

Hwang, who featured in all of his country’s 2022 World Cup matches, denies any illicit activities.

He joined Forest for £4 million from Bordeaux in the summer of 2022, however he did not play a single game in his two years with the Premier League club, only appearing as an unused replacement twice.

Instead, he has spent time on loan at four different clubs: Olympiacos in Greece, FC Seoul two seasons ago, Norwich City in the Championship last season, and Alanyaspor, where he has recently signed permanently.

In November, the Korean Football Association announced that he would not be considered for selection while the police investigation was underway. A trial date has been scheduled for October.
