According to a fresh claim, Nottingham Forest and other Premier League clubs have been keeping an eye on a promising young talent.

The Reds were very busy during the summer transfer window, which has helped them make a good start to the current Premier League season, as they have gone unbeaten in their first three games and will try to extend that when they face Liverpool on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest transfer news

The Premier League club signed 11 players over the summer in order to build a squad capable of avoiding relegation while also aiming for mid-table security. Forest’s summer could have been even busier, as they were considering other recruits.

Forest were rumored to be interested in Flamengo striker Pedro, but a deal for the player was rejected late in the transfer window. The Reds may have avoided a bullet with that addition, since Pedro ruptured his ACL during a training session while on international duty with Brazil. He is now anticipated to be out of action for some months, and while Forest were interested in signing him, they may be relieved they did not complete the deal.

Meanwhile, it was reported last week that Nottingham Forest is planning new contract negotiations with Morgan Gibbs-White. Talks between the club and the player are expected to “progress” throughout the season, and if a new contract is reached, he will be promoted to the top of the club’s salary structure.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa were claimed to have made “tentative” enquiries for the midfielder over the summer, but he has remained at the City Ground, and discussions on a new contract are anticipated to pick up speed.

Nottingham Forest cast eyes over teenage defender

According to Football Scotland, as conveyed by Inside Futbol, Nottingham Forest has dispatched scouts to see Ayr United’s Dylan Watret. According to the report, Forest was one of the Premier League clubs that watched the right-back in his recent Scottish Challenge Cup match against Raith Rovers.

The 17-year-old progressed through the Ayr United academy before spending the second half of last season on loan to East Sterling, where he appeared eight times.

The defender debuted for Ayr in the 2022/23 season, appearing in the SFA Cup, Scottish Championship, and Viaplay Cup. He then went on to play seven games for Scotland in the 2024/25 season, scoring one goal and assisting once in three league games.

In addition to Forest keeping a watch on Watret, Arsenal reportedly had scouts at the Scottish club’s latest game, as did representatives from Scottish Premiership clubs.
