‘Not Omari’: Ipswich Town among clubs showing interest on Chelsea striker

According to journalist Simon Phillips’ Substack story (via The Chelsea Chronicle), Ipswich Town and other teams are interested in Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

Following a spectacular Championship season, Ipswich Town are on their way to the Premier League.

The Tractor Boys fought for promotion all year in their debut season after rising from League One, and eventually secured their place in the top tier on the penultimate day, joining league winners Leicester City and edging off Leeds United.

Such a surge guarantees a hectic summer for the East Anglian club, and some high-profile names have already been linked with moves to Portman Road. Another fascinating relationship has emerged.

According to reporter Simon Phillips of Substack, Ipswich Town is one among the clubs interested in Chelsea attacker Armando Broja this summer.

The 19-time Albania international has been told he may leave Stamford Bridge after his Fulham loan expires, and his predicament has aroused Brentford’s interest.

These links come as Ipswich is interested in signing another Chelsea prospect, Omari Hutchinson.

The kid impressed on loan with Kieran McKenna’s side this season, and the club is eager to re-sign him as they prepare to enter the Premier League.

Ipswich Town’s promotion celebrations have barely died down, and the club has already been connected with some big targets ahead of the summer transfer season.

While Broja is thought to be on the radar, Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah has also been mentioned.

A new striker appears to be on the shopping list at Portman Road, and the club has not been reluctant to make big acquisitions in the past, particularly during their League One promotion campaign.

However, translating that to the Premier League is a whole different story. While they will be looking for some ambitious acquisitions, agreements for players like Broja and Nketiah will not be cheap, so only time will tell how much they are ready to spend on individual players.

A feasible deal?

As previously stated, it remains to be seen how much Ipswich Town will spend this summer.

Broja will not be cheap, that is for certain. While he has struggled in the Premier League this season and has had injury difficulties, Chelsea frequently sells academy graduates for high prices, and he will be no exception.

The 22-year-old has his best years ahead of him, and when fit, he has demonstrated that he can produce at the same level as before. He scored a respectable nine goals in 38 games while at Southampton.

It appears like he will be on the move, but whether Ipswich can make a deal remains to be seen.
