Norwich and Ipswich are battling with a quartet of Football League opponents to recruit a 15-goal attacking midfielder

TEAMtalk has learned that a number of clubs are interested in Aldershot Town midfielder Joshua Stokes ahead of a possible January transfer window move.

Stokes, a midfielder, has played a key role in The Shots’ excellent season thus far, scoring 15 goals after joining the team from Sudbury in the summer.

Aldershot are currently tenth in the National League table, two points out of the play-off places, due largely to Stokes’ goals.

And the teenager’s form has piqued the curiosity of a number of league clubs, who are anxious to sign him in the new year.

The 19-year-old has been scouted by Championship clubs Norwich, Ipswich, and Sunderland, as well as Derby, Charlton, and AFC Wimbledon.

His present contract with Aldershot continues until the summer of 2025, at which point the National League will be able to collect a reasonable amount for his services.
