Nick Sirianni is brutally honest about the severity of Jalen Hurts’ finger injury

Head coach Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles gave fans a better idea of how severe Jalen Hurts’ latest finger injury is, saying that he was surprised when the quarterback returned in their Week 18 game.

Hurts was forced to leave their game against the New York Giants on Sunday when he “popped” his right middle finger. Replays of the incident eventually revealed that the quarterback’s finger was bent abnormally and looked pretty unpleasant.

Hurts was allowed to return to the game, but Sirianni decided to sit him and the rest of the starters due to the Giants’ dominance.

Sirianni, on the other hand, couldn’t believe Hurts toughed it out to return to the game, saying he felt shivers after seeing the injury and hearing that his QB wanted to play even in such condition.

According to Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal, the Eagles’ head coach subsequently confessed that the “finger is going to be sore” for some time, revealing how severe the damage is.

It is also worth noting that both Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts are doubtful whether the quarterback will be able to participate in the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’re taking it day by day for the time being, which isn’t exactly promising given the circumstances.

Indeed, Sirianni’s admission that Hurts’ finger may be uncomfortable for some time does not inspire confidence in the signal-caller’s playing status.

Philadelphia Eagles Reveal X-Ray Result on Jalen Hurts’ Injury

X-rays on Jalen Hurts’ injury found no fracture, which is good news for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is still being monitored by the team, but it appears that they have avoided the worst-case scenario.

Hurts is now expected to heal and enhance his pain tolerance before the postseason. Given the short time until the playoffs, the injury could still bother him on Sunday. However, as Nick Sirianni and the rest of the squad discovered in Week 18, Hurts is unstoppable if he wants to play.

Hurts is unlikely to let some soreness in his hand derail their playoff hopes. After all, they want to go back to the Super Bowl and revenge their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last year.

But here’s hoping Hurts will be able to recuperate sooner. His health might be a crucial role in their title quest in the postseason, where there is no room for error.
