NFL.com’s mock draft has a familiar feel for the Indianapolis Colts

There are new NFL Mock Drafts almost every day, so we aim to stick with the biggest brands in the industry.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com qualifies. Jeremiah released his first mock draft of the season this week, and it follows a familiar pattern: the Indianapolis Colts select an offensive playmaker in the first round.

He believes the Colts will select Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers at No. 15. ESPN’s Jordan Reid performed the same thing two weeks ago.

There is a significant question about Bowers, and it has nothing to do with his talent.

“Bowers is going to be tricky to place in mock drafts,” noted Jeremiah on NFL.com. “The talent suggests he should be a top-five pick, but the debate about positional value could push him down as far as the Colts at No. 15.” If clubs are concerned about drafting a top-10 tight end (as seen with the Falcons and Atlanta), the Colts could benefit. Positional value is meaningless if the player is a true difference maker. Bowers is in the mold of great tight ends like Travis Kelce and Antonio Gates.

Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus (PFF) claims that he is the finest tight end in college football history. “He accomplished GOAT status by being the best tight end in college football right when he graduated high school,” Chadwick said in a statement. “As a true freshman in 2021, Bowers was the most valued tight end in the country, according to PFF’s wins above average measure. He topped all FBS tight ends that season with 522 yards after the catch and 13 receiving touchdowns.” Chadwick’s awards continue with the accompanying links. The Colts also need a tight end. Despite selecting a tight end in each of the last three NFL drafts, Indianapolis has not had a tight end break 400 yards receiving. Round peg. Round hole.

The consensus is to build around Anthony Richardson, last year’s No. 4 overall choice. Bowers would definitely tick that box.
