New development regarding Ipswich Town’s pursuit of a rivals star

Looking to add a new number nine before the deadline, Ipswich Town has seen another attempt to sign Blackburn Rovers’ Sam Gallagher refused.

Ipswich make fresh offer for Sam Gallagher

Gallagher has had a difficult season thus far for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team due to injuries, and earlier this month, it was claimed that the Tractor Boys were interested in him.

Nevertheless, Blackburn declined two offers for the 28-year-old, with the sums said to be about £1.5 million.

Even though the former Southampton player was eager to transfer, it appeared as though the team was searching elsewhere when they were unable to reach an agreement with their fellow Championship team.

However, journalist Pete O’Rourke disclosed in a subsequent update on Thursday night that the Suffolk side had submitted a second bid for Gallagher, however that bid was also turned down.

“Understand that Blackburn Rovers have turned down a fresh offer for striker Sam Gallagher from Ipswich.”

Ipswich desperate to bring in a striker

Even if Southampton and Leeds appear to be able to push them all the way, Kieran McKenna’s team is well on their path to automatic promotion after an incredible start to the season.

However, they suffered a severe hit when it was revealed that George Hirst would be out for an extended period of time, which made bringing in a number nine this month much more imperative.

In addition, it is obvious that McKenna will be looking for a player with the same attributes as the former Sheffield Wednesday player, who excels at working the channels, has a strong back to goal, and serves as the center of attention for Ipswich.

Hirst has contributed six assists and scored the same amount of goals this season, supporting his all-around performance. His presence is crucial in enabling players like Conor Chaplin and Nathan Broadhead to perform to their full potential.

Gallagher is a good fit because of his physicality, even though his injury history should be taken into consideration. However, he has not been very prolific in the past and has not scored more than ten goals for Rovers in the Championship.

He is not the only striker, though, as it was reported that Arsenal had made a bid for Ali Al-Hamadi of AFC Wimbledon that was in excess of £1 million.

That probably will not be sufficient to seal a deal, though, as rumors have it that the League Two team is seeking about twice that much for their top player, who is presently playing for Iraq in the Asia Cup.

In any case, it demonstrates that Ipswich is working to close a transaction before the deadline, which is next Tuesday at 11 p.m.
