NBC Sports anchor has a meltdown following the Eagles’ ‘rock bottom’ loss to the Giants

Philadelphia’s meltdowns are stunning.

The “pathetic” New York Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10, in the teams’ regular-season finales Sunday at MetLife Stadium, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia anchor Michael Barkann.

The Eagles have lost five of their past six regular-season games and will face the Buccaneers in a wild-card game in Tampa on Monday night.

“If you thought last week was rock bottom, they haven’t hit rock bottom yet, as bad as this looks,” Barkann said as the Eagles walked off the field. “You saw your Philadelphia Eagles lose 27-10 to the New York Giants, the pitiful New York Giants… They stank like they had for the previous five weeks. Befuddled, lacking passion, intensity, extra effort, and a desire to. They are simply going through the motions.”

Everything is not sunny in Philadelphia, as the once-favorite team, led by the once-favorite MVP, now appear to be no longer a danger to return to the Super Bowl.

While three of the Eagles’ five losses in the previous six weeks came against good-to-great teams in the 49ers, Cowboys, and Seahawks, Philadelphia squandered the division by losing at home to the Cardinals and on the road to the Giants, both of whom missed the playoffs.

The Eagles didn’t even show up for Sunday’s game, falling behind 24-0 at halftime against a Giants squad they had previously demolished.

Despite Philadelphia’s 25-11 victory over Tampa Bay in Week 3, Barkann predicts a one-and-done postseason run for the Eagles.

“Guess what, this is where it ends for the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular season, a loss to the New York Giants, a loss to Tampa Bay next week it says right here,” Barkann went on to remark. “There’s nothing they’re going to get fixed from this week to next.”

The NBC anchor singled out the coaching staff and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia when he headed into the Eagles locker room.

“Matt Patricia, who’s dropping a man with consecutive 10-sack seasons (Haason Reddick) back in coverage, and the same with Josh Sweat, who’s not covering the guy he’s supposed to cover when he is dropped back in coverage,” he remarked. “They have no idea what they are doing.” The coaching staff doesn’t, the players don’t, and when you add in the fact that they’ve lost the will to play hard, it’s a recipe for disaster…”

Barrett Brooks, co-host, then went over to trash the team’s battle.

“That’s the most incriminating thing right there. This team isn’t fighting, and they’re not going out there with the heart that football requires. “This is disrespecting my sport, which I played for 12 years,” Brooks added. “I’ve never walked off the field the way these guys are doing right now.” They don’t really appear angry, or even irritated; it’s as if they’re just going through the motions. Now, come on. This is beyond my comprehension.”
