Milwaukee Brewers-New York Yankees trade proposal gets three of the top 30 prospects

This offseason, the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees completed a deal.

Power hitting Jake Bauers was traded to the Brew Crew in November in exchange for prospects Jace Avina and Brian Sanchez. This transaction took place on the day of the non-tender deadline.

Bauers is expected to play first base and designated hitter for the Brewers. Avina, the Yankees’ 29th-ranked prospect, and Sanchez, 19, will need more development before making an impact in the major leagues.

There is still plenty of time left in the offseason for the two sides to work out another deal. Bombers Coverage, a Yankees fan blog, recently posted a hypothetical trade proposal in which Milwaukee received three top 30 prospects in return for Corbin Burnes.

Trade proposal sends Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes to the New York Yankees.

Brewers receive:

  • OF Everson Pereira
  • SS Roderick Arias
  • RHP Clayton Beeter

Yankees receive:

  • RHP Corbin Burnes

The Yankees’ third-ranked prospect (Pereira), sixth-ranked prospect (Arias), and 14th-ranked prospect (Beeter) are included in this proposed trade. Pereira has made his MLB debut, Beeter has advanced to Triple-A, and Arias is only 19 years old.

Pereira is an aggressive hitter who swings frequently, smashes the ball, and has a track record of success in the lower leagues. He does strike out regularly, but when he does put the ball in play, he frequently does damage and smashes the ball hard. His aggression and power arsenal would set him apart from the rest of the Brewers’ outfield prospects, but he only has one minor league option left and struggled in a month’s worth of major league games last year.

In terms of Beeter, the long term perspective is that he projects best as a reliever rather than a starter. His slider has a grade of 65 and his fastball can reach 98 MPH, but command is a problem. Arias, on the other hand, was formerly MLB Pipeline’s top-ranked prospect from the 2022 Intentional Signing period, and he is both advanced defensively and fast.

Would you accept a hypothetical trade between the Brewers and the Yankees?
