Sainristil was a three-star cornerback recruit from Everett, Massachusetts, who was committed to the Michigan Wolverines. However, he switched to wide receiver during his first three years at Michigan. It wasn’t working out as Sainristil and the coaches had hoped, so he moved back to the corner.

He immediately rose to the status of full-time starter and captain for the Wolverines. In 2023, Sainristil returned for his first season and delivered a masterpiece.
