Michigan Wolverines Ben Herbert Following Jim Harbaugh To NFL

Director of Strength & Conditioning for Michigan, brutal Ben Herbert departing to play for the LA Chargers under Jim Harbaugh?

Herbert joined the initiative in 2018. In 2023, Harbaugh elevated him to associate head coach of the program, giving him more authority.Sherrone Moore, the new head coach, had hoped to keep Herbert, but it doesn’t appear like that will happen.

The loss of Harbaugh, who Harbaugh called the “X-factor of our entire program,” is severe for the Wolverines. His preparation has played a major role in the Wolverines’ success in the trenches these past few seasons.

2024 Outlook

In 2024, the Wolverines could be a surprise team. The NFL Draft is taking away a lot of their parts. The wholesale departure from the program hasn’t occurred yet, though, in contrast to many other programs undergoing coaching changes. The NCAA’s decision regarding the sign-stealing incident is the other wild card.

Now that Harbaugh isn’t around to absorb the brunt of the punishment, will they take it personally or will they back down? Moore has proven he can lead in pivotal moments, and Michigan still has a lot of potential. They should not be favorites for the national championship, but they might certainly make an impact.

In 2024, the Michigan Wolverines will be an exciting team to watch. Will the team suffer in 2024 and beyond from the coaching staff turnover? Time will tell.
