Michigan is going to include Louisiana DC to coaching staff

It appears that Michigan has identified its next defensive backs coach.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports, Michigan has hired Louisiana’s defensive coordinator, LaMar Morgan. Morgan is likely to coach both cornerbacks and safeties.

Morgan’s hiring is made even more intriguing by his ties to former Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, with whom he previously coached at Vanderbilt. Morgan should be familiar with much of Michigan’s defensive strategy. Although Wink Martindale is now Michigan’s defensive coordinator, Minter’s strategy, which was a derivative of Martindale’s Baltimore Ravens scheme, is expected to remain mostly unchanged.

In addition to stops at Louisiana and Vanderbilt, Morgan has coached at Western Carolina, UL-Monroe, and Houston. As DC of Louisiana, the defense had 28 interceptions the previous two seasons, and in 2023, the team led the country in defensive touchdowns.
