The Michigan Insider has covered the record 18 Michigan football players at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The Michigan Insider has been on-site in Indianapolis to give comprehensive coverage of the record 18 Michigan football players attending the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

On Friday morning, candidates for quarterback, running back, and wide receiver met with the media, and Michigan was heavily represented on the podiums. J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Roman Wilson, and Cornelius Johnson all spoke extensively about their Michigan careers and what they plan to exhibit in Indianapolis ahead of the NFL draft.

You may see the whole recordings of their interviews below:

J.J. McCarthy: ‘The only stat I cared about was Ws’
As expected, many of the questions for J.J. McCarthy focused on his college performance. McCarthy demonstrated his talent by leading Michigan to two Big Ten titles and a national championship, but he has far less pass attempts (714) than Caleb Williams (1,108), Drake Maye (951) or Jayden Daniels (1,025).

McCarthy responded to his college stats as follows: “All I cared about was being the best teammate, quarterback, and anything else was asked of me. And the only statistic I cared about was wins, and we performed fairly well in that category.”

Roman Wilson is ready to show off his speed.
Roman Wilson’s impressive Senior Bowl performance helped him jump up the NFL Draft rankings, and he expects to make a statement in the 40-yard sprint at the NFL Combine.

“Right now, I think I’ll get a low 4.3,” Wilson explained. “But you know, I’m really trying to get a 4.2, just being humble to say low 4.3s.”

While in Indianapolis, Wilson aims to persuade NFL teams that he can be a reliable playmaker.

“Being a consistent playmaker on a weekly basis is something I would have liked to show out more,” he told reporters. “Obviously, Michigan had so many playmakers, and I was never able to be that player on a consistent basis. But I wish I could demonstrate that, since I believe I can do it on a weekly basis. Some folks look at my data, and I don’t think they accurately reflect who I am. Just pull my film and you’ll see who I am.”

Blake Corum: Delaying NFL ambition was worth it for natty.
“I knew the NFL was here to stay. It has been around for a long time and will continue to be so,” he remarked. “But you can only attend college once.

And several of my brothers were returning. And, last, there was unfinished business. There was unfinished business that needed to be completed. And I wanted to bring that to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and, most importantly, to my brothers.

Cornelius Johnson claims Michigan ‘chemistry’ is prevalent in Indianapolis.
The wide receiver claims that “Schembechler Hall chemistry” is present in Indianapolis. This week at the NFL Combine, he hopes to demonstrate his consistency, route-running abilities, short-game footwork, and ability to make long passes.
