Matt Olson shows hints of breakout as Atlanta Braves seek to ramp up offense

Matt Olson and the Braves’ offense appear to be coming around.

While the Atlanta Braves wait for their starting lineup to establish its footing, the pitching staff remains the team’s driving force.

There are some indications that things may be turning. Matt Olson shook out of a month-long funk with a couple of home runs, and the Braves won three consecutive series. Atlanta also appears to have avoided an injury on third baseman Austin Riley’s side. Sean Murphy could return to the lineup in the near future, which should assist matters. The same can be said of Pierce Johnson’s return to the Braves bullpen following a two-week break.

Meanwhile, Ronald Acuña Jr. received a day off on Wednesday. Could that tiny reset help relieve some of the load on the brilliant right fielder? And who could have predicted Zack Short would make such an impact in his first week with the club? In his first four games as Riley’s replacement, the new Atlanta infielder accomplished just that.

Grant McAuley and Kris Willis of Battery Power discuss all of this, as well as a preview of the four-game series versus the San Diego Padres.
