According to a fresh rumor, despite the English transfer window closing last week, Nottingham Forest may be poised to lose a player at the City Ground.

The Reds had a very busy summer transfer window, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo was eager to strengthen his team and prevent another relegation battle. The transaction they did has helped Nuno get off to a terrific start in the league, as they are undefeated after three matches.

Nottingham Forest’s busy end to the transfer window

As previously established, the Premier League club had a very active summer, bringing in 11 new players while also releasing a remarkable 20 players. Forest’s player turnover is high, but it could have been far higher.

The team signed James Ward-Prowse on deadline day, but they were also interested in a few other players. It has been claimed that Forest were interested in signing Ernest Nuamah from French club Lyon. The Reds apparently led a pursuing pack of suitors that included Fulham and Everton, but he ultimately chose to stay in France.

In addition to Nuamah, Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested in signing Simon Banza and made a late offer to sign the striker on loan from Braga. The inquiry was characterized as “extremely ambitious,” but he was clearly on the club’s radar and may be someone they return to in the future.

Marinakis eyes inter-club deal for £8 million midfielder

According to sources in Greece, Evangelos Marinakis is close to signing Nicolas Dominguez from Nottingham Forest for Greek club Olympiacos. Forest only bought Dominguez from Italian club Bologna in the summer of 2023, and he appeared in 26 Premier League games last season, scoring two goals.

The midfielder has featured twice in the league this season, but according to this source, he is on the verge of moving to Greece. The Premier League club has reached its limit in terms of loan players, thus Dominguez would have to depart the City Ground on a permanent basis.

When the Argentine joined the club last summer, he signed a five-year contract worth roughly £8 million, with Forest sending Remo Freuler the other way. However, given that they have recently acquired Ward-Prowse to their roster, Dominguez will certainly fall lower down the pecking order, and a transfer elsewhere may be the best option for all parties involved.
