A man was detained Friday during Morgan Wallen’s concert at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium after making a “terroristic threat” that caused a 45-minute delay in the headliner’s set.

While a person familiar with the incident informed Variety that the threat was directed at Wallen, a release from the Jackson County Prosecutor stated that the accused targets were “two individuals who were members of the Kansas City Chiefs organization.” Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, both Chiefs players, attended the event and exited the dressing area with Wallen.

“An Illinois man has been charged with a felony after he threatened on social media to shoot two individuals at a concert Friday night at Arrowhead in Kansas City, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today,” according to a statement.

“Aaron Brown of Winchester, Illinois, is charged with a Class E felony: Making a Terroristic Threat in the Second Degree. According to court records, on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, Kansas City police detectives and intelligence analysts in the Kansas City Fusion Center working at GEHA field at Arrowhead were monitoring threats at a planned concert when they noticed on Twitter a threat against two Kansas City Chiefs members who were present at the event.

“The defendant told police he was at Arrowhead. The concert was postponed for 40 minutes while the defendant was located.

“The defendant was charged earlier today, and his bond was set at $15,000.” Prosecutors asked for a $250,000 cash bond.

Kelce, who is famously dating Taylor Swift, and Mahomes went out of the locker room with Wallen, who was wearing his own bespoke Chiefs jersey with the number seven on the front. Although the jersey number is also that of Chiefs player Harrison Butker, who sparked outrage with his commencement address at Benedictine College, which many saw as misogynistic, it was Wallen’s high school baseball number.

While some spectators chastised Wallen for delaying the show to “hang out with Chiefs players,” and a source tells Variety that the concert was nearly canceled five minutes before it was supposed to start, the prosecutor’s statement claims the delay was due to law enforcement. Kelce was seen loving the show and excitedly singing along in fan film shared online.

Reps for Wallen, promoter Live Nation, the Chiefs organization and Kansas City police either did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment or deferred to law enforcement.
