Lucas Paqueta and Emerson respond to West Ham’s new £25 million signing

Lucas Paqueta and Emerson Palmieri have reacted to West Ham United’s signing of compatriot Luis Guilherme.

After weeks of negotiations, technical director Tim Steidten was thrilled to officially announce Luis Guilherme as a West Ham player on Thursday.

The Hammers are paying Palmeiras an estimated £20 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the 18-year-old.

Guilherme departed Brazil’s Under-20s training to fly to London and sign as West Ham’s first summer signing.

Indeed, he is the club’s first signing under Julen Lopetegui.

Guilherme, according to his own admission, can play in any attacking position. The big ace has scorching speed and skill.

Many believe West Ham made a wise decision in signing him since he is one of several flexible young players who can step in to replace Lucas Paqueta when needed.

West Ham add another boy from Brazil

West Ham’s record signing has a cloud hanging over his head until a three-person tribunal rules on spot-fixing suspicions involving yellow cards.

If Paqueta is found guilty, he will risk a lengthy ban. If he is cleared of any wrongdoing, he will most likely be sold to Manchester City at the next available chance.

However, that process could take some time to complete.

So, for the time being, Guilherme will join Brazilian teammates Paqueta, Emerson Palmieri, and Luizao at West Ham.

Emerson was born and reared in Brazil, but chose to play for the Italian national team. However, he is fundamentally Brazilian.

Guilherme claimed in his first interview as a Hammer that he spoke with Emerson after it was confirmed that he would be signing.

He had not communicated with Paqueta at the time of speaking.

However, West Ham’s £51 million offer has now been extended to him.

Paqueta and Emerson react to West Ham signing Guilherme

Because Paqueta and Emerson reacted to West Ham’s signing of Guilherme.

Emerson took to Instagram Stories and stated, “Welcome brother! He’s moving up!” Along with hammers and heart emojis.

Paqueta, who is overseas on Brazil duty ahead of the Copa America, also took the opportunity to welcome Guilherme to West Ham.

“Welcome my bro!” Paqueta remarked on Instagram Stories, tagging Guilherme and reposting his West Ham introduction video.

It appears unlikely that Paqueta and Guilherme will remain West Ham teammates for long.

But Hammers fans may get to see the pair and Emerson team up in claret and blue for a while.

So expect some major Samba style from the Hammers next season.

Samba football at the London Stadium

Guilherme had been destined for great things since making his senior football debut for Palmeiras in a 4-2 home win over Tombense in the Brazilian Cup third round last April.

By the end of the 2023 Brazilian season, he had made 27 appearances, debuting in and winning Brazil’s Serie A, as well as competing in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s equivalent of Champions League.

Now, barely over a year later, he plays for West Ham after impressing the club and, according to reports, several other Premier League teams.

The Guardian and ESPN had previously included West Ham’s latest signing on their prestigious lists of promising talents.

Guilherme was named by The Guardian to the ‘Next Generation 2023: 60 of the top young talents in world football’ list, alongside fellow Palmeiras prospects Endrick and Vitor Reis.

According to journalist Thiago Rabelo, “Football is a simple sport for Luis Guilherme.”
