Louis Rees-Zammit’s NFL jersey sales surge, joining Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes as fan favourites

‘LRZ fever’ is spreading as the Welshman continues to make a significant impression with the Kansas City Chiefs.

He has already made a significant sensation in the United States, and it appears that ‘Louis Rees-Zammit fever’ is spreading, with a new statistic revealing his popularity.

The Welshman, who is now being put through his paces in training with the Kansas City Chiefs in the hopes of making their active roster for the upcoming season, only left rugby for the NFL in January but has been on a stratospheric climb since.

Not only has he wowed famed coach Andy Reid with how fast he has adapted to his new sport, but he has also proven popular with his colleagues, as seen by his recent participation at a charity softball game, when he blasted a home run on the first pitch.

The Chiefs, who have won two Super Bowls in a row, have some of the biggest names in sports on their roster, including Rees-Zammit’s new teammates Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. The former’s famous reputation has skyrocketed after it was announced last year that he was dating music sensation Taylor Swift, catapulting him to the top of the global gossip list.

But even among these superstars, Rees-Zammit has held his own. Despite being a rookie, his new number nine jersey has already sold the third most in the UK of any Chiefs player, after only Kelce and three-time Super Bowl MVP Mahomes.

The exact amount of purchases of the shirt, which costs £105 on the official NFL UK website, has not been published, but such a rating places Rees-Zammit ahead of more established players like as Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Harrison Butker.

It comes after Kelce and his brother Jason claimed that Rees-Zammit would be the most marketable player in NFL history after signing a three-year contract with the Chiefs. The eldest Kelce brother said on their New Heights podcast that the Welshman may be the sport’s next superstar.

“I’m excited to see what this guy does,” remarked the man. “I understand there will be a learning curve, but I hope this guy takes the globe by f****** storm. It will be electric. With a smile like that, this man… if he works out, he’ll be the most marketable player in history.”

Meanwhile, Travis stated that Rees-Zammit was “debonair” and “as suave as it gets,” adding, “I really just enjoy the guy’s energy so far.” He is overjoyed at the opportunity he has been given, understanding that not everyone has similar privileges.
