Livingston have acquired a “much-needed offensive option” by acquiring striker Tete Yengi from Ipswich Town.

The 6ft 5in Australian spent the first half of the season on loan at Finnish top division club KuPS, making two of his 13 appearances in the Europa Conference League.

Although he has yet to score this season, Yengi scored seven goals in seven appearances for VPS Vaasa in Finland and spent last season at Northampton Town.

He has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and might face Hearts on Tuesday.

“Tete comes with some great references and did very well in Finland,” said manager David Martindale.

“It’s a challenging window to attract players, and it’s made even more difficult given our league position. So it speaks volumes about the guy and his approach in accepting the task we face as a club.

“I’m really happy we have managed to bring in a much-needed offensive option, albeit I hope that we can add a further player in this area in the window too.”
