Lions sign 11 players from the NFL on reserve/future deals

The Detroit Lions signed eleven players to reserve/future contracts, the organization revealed on Tuesday.

Wide receivers Tom Kennedy and Maurice Alexander, as well as running back Jermar Jefferson, were all signed.

All players that inked deals on Tuesday had previously been on the team’s practice team this season.

A reserve/futures contract takes effect on the opening day of the new league year, when teams can increase their rosters to 90 players ahead of training camp.

The Lions are currently coming off a 2023 season in which they advanced to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Dan Campbell stated that the club is constantly striving to raise their level of competition in pursuit of the Lombardi Trophy.

“I suppose it is everything. I believe it’s the players and coaches. Campbell emphasized the importance of improving and increasing competitiveness on the roster and among coaches. “It has to be; you have to ensure that you have the correct people and that they all work well together.

“It’s a high-level staff with high-level players.” That’s crucial, and you learn a lot about players when you’re 0-10, as I mentioned. You also learn a lot when you’re in an NFC Championship game, where the stakes are much higher, and you get into those types of games, and we all learn.”
