Lions offensive lineman reveals Matt Patricia’s insane ratio of F-bombs dropped every minute

The Lions’ head coach Matt Patricia’s stint was brief. It was a huge disappointment as well.

Before firing Patricia in the middle of the 2020 NFL season, Detroit had won 13 games in less than three years. During that same period, they tied once and lost 29 games.

For one of the worst football teams, hiring New England’s defensive coordinator of six years did not go well. Under Matt Patricia, the organization underwent a decline in performance that was felt by many over his more than two seasons in Michigan.

After Patricia was sacked, some players who had disagreements with her while working under the same roof danced on his grave. The coach “came in like he was simply larger and better than any of us,” among other things, according to Darius Slay, who was the most outspoken. His whole tenure was a complete failure.

He was vulgar and brazen.

Tyrell Crosby, an ex-NFL offensive tackle, was a member of the Lions from 2018 to 2022. Patricia oversaw all of his rookie and sophomore campaigns as his head coach.

On October 28, 2018, after a defeat to Seattle, Crosby made the decision to monitor the words used by his head coach. Each F-bomb had a tally attached to it. Patricia used the F-word 374 times in a 49-minute meeting on the Monday following the Seahawks’ defeat.

According to accounts from Detroit at the time, that translates to an average of 7.6 every minute, which is bizarre but not all that shocking. According to Crosby, the decision to keep track caused quite a stir in the conference room.

One of my teammates looked over while I was tallying and laughed because he knew what I was doing 😂

It could possibly be the case that Crosby omitted one or more F-bombs, to add to the absurdity. He started off late!

Patricia worked as a senior defensive assistant with the Eagles last season before making a comeback to the Patriots in 2021 and 2022. According to reports, Slay’s attitude about the work in Philadelphia changed somewhat, and he even managed to patch things up with the man he had once detested.

His rate of 7.6 F-words per minute seems to have decreased a little while he was a member of the Lions.
