Lions have made a flurry of roster moves ahead of the Rams game

Two Lions players have been placed on the injured reserve list.

The Detroit Lions made a flurry of roster changes before of their Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Cornerback Jerry Jacobs and tight end James Mitchell were placed on injured reserve, thereby ending their seasons.

Mitchell had surgery on Friday to address a hand ailment, while Jacobs has a lower-body issue.

Tight end Anthony Firkser and cornerback Chase Lucas were also added to the active roster.

For Sunday’s game, defensive lineman Tyson Alualu and fullback Jason Cabinda have been promoted from the practice squad.

Lucas was cut before to Week 17 to make room on the roster for kicker Michael Badgley.

He rejoined the Lions on the practice squad after clearing waivers. This season, he has appeared in 12 games, mostly on special teams.

During the regular season, Alualu and Firkser both appeared in two games as elevations. Alualu, a 14-year veteran, has four tackles for the Lions this season.

Meanwhile, Firkser has yet to make a catch. The Lions’ tight end depth has been tested in recent weeks. Mitchell is out, while the status of talented rookie Sam LaPorta is unknown due to a knee ailment.

The Lions and Rams will face off at Ford Field at 8 p.m. on Sunday. Detroit is looking for its first playoff victory since 1991.
