Even on a Saturday, the Detroit Lions were active on the NFL transaction wire.

Following the fourth training camp session, the Lions made a number of roster changes, including the addition of a veteran linebacker.

The Lions signed linebacker Malik Jefferson, who last played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. Detroit is Jefferson’s sixth team in as many NFL seasons, having been drafted in the third round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. Jefferson, 27, has appeared in 39 career games, but has spent the most of his time on special teams.

The Lions made room on the roster by placing kicker Michael Badgley on injured reserve. Badgley tore his hamstring during Thursday’s practice and will miss the rest of the season.

Detroit also added sixth-round rookie guard Christian Mahogany to the active/non-football illness list. Mahogany has yet to attend training camp due to an unexplained sickness. He is eligible to be activated at any point, but being on the official list indicates that Mahogany may be out for a little longer.

In addition, the Lions dismissed offensive lineman Matt Farniok as part of an injury settlement. Farniok was originally waived throughout the week, but now has the label of an injury settlement. The team did not reveal his injury.
