Linebacker Will Return to Oregon in 2024

Tosh Lupoi and Dan Lanning have just regained another key piece of their defense.

Jestin Jacobs, a junior linebacker for the Oregon Ducks, will return to Eugene for the 2024 season. On Sunday, he shared the news on social media.

“Run it back,” Jacobs said on Instagram. Jacobs will return to Eugene after missing only eight games due to injury during the 2023 season. He has 32 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 pass breakup in those eight games.

When he joined the defense against Washington State in late October, the former Iowa standout had an immediate impact.

Jacobs is the latest high-profile player to declare his return to Oregon, following the announcements of Jeffrey Bassa and Jordan Burch.

Following the departure of senior Jamal Hill, Jacobs is expected to line up alongside Bassa as one of Oregon’s two starting inside linebackers. Devon Jackson and Connor Soelle, as well as Jerry Mixon and Braydon Platt among others, are projected to be in Oregon’s two-deep at inside linebacker.

The Ducks have had an exciting weekend as their lineup for next season begins to take form, with multiple players confirming their intention to return for another year.

Tight end Terrance Ferguson and wide receivers Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden were also announced. With the announcement of Jacobs’ return on Sunday, the two offensive linemen who have yet to announce their plans for the 2024 season are Ajani Cornelius and Marcus Harper II.
