Leicester City submitted a transfer claim for an Serie A midfielder

According to Calcio Mercato, Leicester City remains the most likely destination for Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi.

The Foxes were rather quiet during the January transfer window, which is not surprising given that they made numerous quality signings during the summer transfer window.

These additions helped the team move to the top of the Championship table, and while Leeds United has cut the distance between them and the Midlands club to nine points, the Foxes still maintain a comfortable lead over all of their promotion opponents.

Going into the January transfer window, the league leaders may have sought to enhance a few positions, particularly their left-back department.

Cesare Casadei was also recalled from his loan term by Chelsea, which may have surprised some given that he was scheduled to spend the full season at the King Power Stadium.

However, the Italian was chastised for some of his performances, and as a result, he was always going to be replaceable.

Sensi appeared to be a replacement in the middle of the park, with the Italian extensively connected with a move to Leicester during the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano even suggested that a deal was on the approach of being finalized, but the move did not materialise, and the midfielder appears to be poised to spend the rest of the season at San Siro.

Update on Stefano Sensi following Leicester City agreement breakdown

With this in mind, the player should still be available for a summer transfer away from the Italian giants.

This is when his contract expires, and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered an extension to stay with his current club.

Calcio Mercato, on the other hand, believes his most likely destination is still Leicester at this point, with Enzo Maresca’s team perhaps being interested in the midfielder.

Leicester City should continue pursuing Stefano Sensi.

If Leicester can strike some smart, low-cost deals, they may be just as effective as the Clarets’ signings.

And if they can recruit Sensi for free, the Foxes will be able to spend money on other aspects of their team, which might be critical given their expected return to the top flight.
