Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca makes Burnley admission

Enzo Maresca, the manager of Leicester City, revealed to Leicestershire Live that he doesn’t think his team is now superior to Burnley.

The Foxes have had an excellent start to the season, and a lot of people think they have what it takes to become the greatest Championship club ever.

They have won 11 of their first 12 league games, and they are now on track to surpass Reading’s 106-point record from the 2005–06 season in order to solidify that status.

With 33 points out of a possible 36, they appear to be serious contenders for the championship, as does Ipswich Town, who will find it difficult to stay up with the Midlands team if they keep racking up points at their current pace.

The Foxes have done a fantastic job of positioning themselves after losing players such as James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Timothy Castagne in the summer—the latter two of whom proved to be true assets in the final third for Maresca’s team in the Premier League last season.

With the caliber of their roster, they should have been at the top of the league on paper regardless of whether they had a strong start to the season, but the majority of their supporters weren’t prepared for this start.

They had to adjust to Maresca’s style of play for the entire team in addition to dealing with departures and the onboarding of new players.

Fortunately for them, they were able to act swiftly on Maresca’s suggestion, and they are now heavy favorites to return to the first flight when called upon.

What did Enzo Maresca say about Leicester City and Burnley?

People are drawing analogies between the Foxes and the Clarets, who finished last term with the second-tier title, given how well the Foxes have performed.

However, Maresca has been anxious to dispel any notion that his group is superior to Vincent Kompany’s squad from the 2022–2023 campaign.

“To be honest, I don’t think we are any better than Burnley,” he remarked. because with 101 points they ruined the Championship the previous year. We currently need 70 more points to surpass them by a small margin.

It is impolite to discuss Burnley and not us. Since everything is operating smoothly, we are pleased.

“We set out on this voyage, and we are headed in the right path. However, we are unsure if we falter in the second part of the season. We’re not sure. It’s the NFL. Many things are possible.

“Our preferred style of play is the only thing we have control over. Numerous details determine the outcome.

Is Leicester City a better team than Burnley was the previous season?

It appears like the Foxes will easily defeat the Clarets’ 101 points at this time.

The thing that is striking about Leicester is that they have overcome adversity to have a strong start to the season; they deserve praise for that.

Given their quality and depth, their results might not seem all that great, but they still deserve a lot of respect for outperforming Southampton and Leeds United, two other teams that were demoted from the top flight at the end of the previous season.

They appear to be in better situation right now than the Clarets, but as Maresca points out, the season still has a long way to go.

Whether or not they can be called a better team than Burnley 2022–23 will depend on how consistently they perform.
