Wayne Rooney, who recently unexpectedly accepted the position of manager of Birmingham City after John Eustace abruptly left the club, is pictured posing with Cody Drameh of Leeds United.

At this early point in the season, Eustace had led Birmingham to a very good sixth place, a substantial improvement over the disappointing 17th place finish from the previous campaign. Even Eustace seen Birmingham defeat Leeds.

But not enough for the new Birmingham City board, which also includes Tom Brady of the American football team.

Rooney, who recently left DC United for The Midlands, was brought in because they were looking for a greater profile in the dugout.

Since the Blues and the rest of the Championship aren’t in action until the next weekend, Rooney participated in training for the first time on Friday. Some photos from the session were shared on Birmingham’s Instagram feed.

That includes none other than Leeds defender Drameh, who is beaming in the fourth photo with Manchester United and England star Rooney. Till the conclusion of the current season, Drameh is out on loan.

Prior to that, it was anticipated that he would start at right back for Leeds in the Championship. He was assigned a loan.

Not long after Drameh was substituted on, he was taken off after making a mistake in the 4-3 victory over Ipswich.

Daniel Farke obviously did not like him. Given his performance at Cardiff and Luton Town, a surprise.

He will now be looking to build on his recent success and the positive start he has had with the Blues under manager Rooney in the upcoming weeks and months. Rooney leads Middlesbrough for the first time.
