Lavell Edwards Stadium Has A Strange Look With…

On Monday, BYU revealed that brand new LED lights had been installed at Lavell Edwards Stadium.

The new LED lighting will enable BYU to incorporate the lights into the gameday environment, something that has never been done before. The new lights can turn on and off, as well as change color.

LED lighting have become increasingly prevalent in college football. Alabama, for example, uses LED lights as part of their pregame routine when they exit the tunnel. BYU will probably do something similar.

Lavell Edwards Stadium will get more than just new lights in 2024. This grass was also replaced earlier this year. Following the 2023 football season, the playing field at Lavell Edwards Stadium was set to be replaced. After removing the old grass a few months ago, the new grass has grown in, and the new turf surrounding the field’s perimeter has been installed. The new turf around the field has royal blue highlights, which replace the previous white accents.

The turf in the final two home games versus Iowa State and Oklahoma became a storyline because it was visibly torn up and treacherous. During the night game against Iowa State, BYU players slipped on practically every play. The goal is that a new and improved playing field will alleviate the problems in the future, particularly in November. When the temperatures drop at the end of the season, field conditions become more difficult to maintain.
