Sportswriters and NBA players have long had an antagonistic relationship.
Indeed, it has existed since reporters began attending NBA games to report on the league.
And so it was during the period of Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Larry Bird, who frequently had a strained relationship with the media if they dared to ask the Hick From French Lick a dumb question. However, they would occasionally do so, prompting Larry Legend to deliver some savage tongue lashings.
