Kompany feels Burnley’s difficult beginning will spur them on moving ahead

The experiences that Burnley’s players have had during their difficult start to the season, according to manager Vincent Kompany, should help them in the upcoming stretch of games.

In their first eight games since returning to the Premier League, the Clarets have faced Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa. Their first opponent was Manchester City.

After one victory over Luton and one point from a tie with Nottingham Forest, they are now in the relegation zone. However, they have two games left against bottom-six teams, Brentford and Bournemouth.

“I don’t think we’re in any position to have any arrogance about any of the games,” Kompany said in an interview prior to the team’s travel to the capital on Saturday.

“Every game will be difficult, but everyone understands that Man City and these clubs possess something really unique.

We can now apply the lessons we learned from the first round of competitions to hopefully improve in every game. The Premier League’s belief that every second counts is what matters most to us.

Kompany dismissed rumors that he was under pressure already, stating, “I look back at even last season – what’s pressure? The pressure of maintaining your position in the world’s top league or the pressure of needing to rise again after being demoted.

“There is pressure everywhere you look—pressure to win the league, pressure to qualify for the Champions League, pressure to advance to the Champions League.

“Those guys have also just returned from international competitions where they competed to earn spots in major tournaments. It’s a necessary component of the work.

“As a team, I believe it’s always about showing up on time and making sure you’re fighting for what you believe you deserve.”

Kompany is expecting to have some of his injured players back in the lineup. Darko Churlinov, a forward, may also be included after he participated in North Macedonia’s season-opening match against Ukraine.

The 23-year-old, who came to the team from Schalke last summer, spent the summer in the hospital after developing a serious illness.

To be honest, Kompany found his story to be rather frightening. We worried about him. He became quite sick, dropped a lot of weight, and lost a lot of muscle. We were concerned that he could need to miss a season at some point.

However, I believe that his speedy recovery was a result of his mentality, as well as some medical assistance and good fortune. I believe it is a relief for all of us to have him back on the fields.
