Kieran McKenna reacted as coaching staff sign new deals

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is overjoyed that his coaching staff have agreed to sign new contracts to stay at Portman Road.

The Northern Irishman resolved doubts about his future by signing a new four-year contract, after being linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Assistant manager Martyn Pert, first-team coaches Charlie Turnbull and Lee Grant, and head of goalkeeping Rene Gilmartin have all followed in his footsteps, and McKenna believes they all played a significant role in the Blues’ recent success, which bodes well for the next Premier League season.

“I’m incredibly well backed, I have to say, of course with the coaching staff around me in Martyn, Charlie, Lee and Rene,” he stated to Town TV.

“We have excellent support staff in all sections of the club, and we will continue to grow and improve.

“We have amazing individuals at the club. I believe everyone has moved up in recent years, improving their duties and developing each department. We’ve also brought in some good people during that time, and we hope to continue doing so.

“We have to continue to improve in all areas, and the staff has done an excellent job. They provide me wonderful assistance on the training ground, and I know Mark is really thankful to the workers here at the stadium.

“I’m overjoyed with that support, and my coaching staff are, of course, critical to it. They’ve done an excellent job with the playing group, and I’m sure they’re eager to continue.
