Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick go head to head for the signature defender

Former Manchester United coaches Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick, who are currently managers at Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough, are expected to compete for Will Fish’s services this summer.

Fish has had two extremely productive loan periods in Scotland, with Hibernian.

The youngster progressed through United’s ranks before making his first-team debut at the end of the 2020/21 season.

He had a brief spell with Stockport County, but it is at Hibs that Fish has truly found his feet.

His strong performances appear to have piqued the interest of many Championship heavyweights, including McKenna’s Ipswich and Carrick’s Middlesbrough.

According to HITC, Fish’s skills are expected to be highly sought for this summer.

McKenna and Carrick, who worked with the 21-year-old at Old Trafford, will be particularly familiar with him and his abilities.

The two coaches were undoubtedly important components of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom team.

“HITC Football also understands that other clubs tracking his progression are Sheffield United, Hull City, Sunderland, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.”

It is claimed that Hibs manager Nick Montgomery is anxious to keep the Carrington academy graduate on his team, but that is becoming increasingly difficult with Championship clubs circling.

Fish has been a staple for his loan team this season.

Already, the centre-back has 35 appearances in all competitions, including two European games against Premier League giants Aston Villa.

It is unclear whether United will allow the player to leave on another loan or permanently.
