Kendal Wall Provides Huge Reason For His Commitment With BYU Football

Shortly after his official visit, Mountain Ridge High School standout Kendal Wall committed to BYU.

Wall received an offer from BYU during their high school camp earlier this month. He made an official visit a few days later and chose the Cougars over offers from San Jose State and Washington State. We spoke with Wall about his decision to commit to BYU.

Wall first contacted BYU’s staff in December. He was invited to BYU’s high school camp, where he performed well enough to earn a scholarship. Wall stated that the coaches were thrilled to incorporate his parents in that moment. “They had me call my parents so that they could tell them about it.

A few weeks later, Wall paid a formal visit to BYU to get a better look at the program. “My favorite part was just hanging out with the players,” Wall joked. “They were a huge reason I committed. They were simply great.

Wall went on, “It was special because it seemed like I was seeing relatives. “I enjoyed every aspect of it.”

Sione Po’uha invited Wall to BYU’s camp, and Sione Po’uha and Kelly Poppinga made the scholarship offer. Po’uha, in particular, made an impact in Wall’s recruitment. “Sione Po’uha is one of the best coaches and if anyone was gonna coach me it would be him.”

Wall’s recruitment was only beginning to pick up. He received his first offer from Washington State just over a month ago. A few days later, he received another offer from San Jose State. The Cougars were the first P4 program to make an offer after meeting him in person.
