Kansas City Chiefs receive an offensive coordinator in time for a playoff game

As early as this postseason, the Kansas City Chiefs were speculated to be interested in reuniting with former offensive offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

This week, we’ll look at a possible deal the Chiefs could make with the Washington Commanders to transfer Bieniemy to Kansas City.

According to GH files, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stated that Bieniemy’s leadership was a big cause for the team’s previous season success. Mahomes’ words suggested he’d like to work with Bieniemy again.

There is one issue with assigning Bieniemy to Vic Fangio’s postseason duties with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Despite the fact that the Washington Commanders fired head coach Ron Rivera on Black Monday, the team intends to keep their coaches, including Bieniemy, on contract until a new head of football operations is hired.

But, in order to get draft compensation, would the Commanders be willing to let Bieniemy go a few weeks early? Under new owner Josh Harris, the Commanders intend to rebuild. The Chiefs are focused on winning right now.

This proposal sends Bieniemy to the Kansas City Chiefs

The Commanders are unlikely to keep their assistants for next season, and the Chiefs only need Bieniemy for postseason temperature help. The Chiefs would almost certainly consider trading a late-day third-round choice for Bieniemy.

  • Bieniemy

The Commanders would be compensated for their rebuilding efforts by granting the Chiefs Bieniemy for a week to a month. After all, once the Chiefs season is over, the Commanders will be free to interview or appoint Bieniemy as their head coach.

Even with Bieniemy, the Chiefs’ season could end quickly. During the regular season, the Chiefs’ wide receivers topped the league in drops. Bieniemy might be able to help with accountability there, but he won’t be the one catching Mahomes’ passes.
