Kansas City Chiefs Emerging As Potential Suitor For Free Agent RB

As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL season, there are a few areas where they can improve. One of these locations is at running back.

At this point, Isiah Pacheco is the Chiefs’ starter, and they were able to re-sign Clyde Edwards-Helaire in free agency. They may, however, consider upgrading the post. Dalvin Cook could be a name to watch in Kansas City.

Some argue that the Chiefs should just re-sign Jerick McKinnon. He has been with the team for three years and has always been a reliable choice when needed. Cook might bring a unique skill set to the team, which could be quite important.

Kansas City Chiefs Emerging As Potential Suitor For Dalvin Cook

According to Bleacher Report, the Kansas City Chiefs could be a great fit for Cook. Here is their explanation for suggesting the pairing.

“The offense is in good hands with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, but more aid would be appreciated. They could use a running back to take part of Jerick McKinnon’s pass-catching duties. Dalvin Cook will be 29 years old in August, but he can still help with that workload.

Cook is searching for a chance to play this season. Since leaving the Minnesota Vikings, he has struggled to find a steady job, which has been frustrating for him. Joining a team like the Chiefs, which can provide him a role and help him fight for a title, would be an excellent fit.

Cook did not play much during the 2023 season. Cook did, however, carry the football 264 times for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns with the Vikings two years ago, in 2022. He also had 39 receptions for 295 yards and two touchdowns.

Those figures are still well within Cook’s capabilities. If the Kansas City Chiefs want to sign an impact player on a low contract, Cook is a good choice.

Dalvin Cook, 28, is merely looking for one more opportunity. There are still a few teams who could use some running back support. Kansas City is one of them, and Cook would be an excellent fit.

Expect to see Cook find himself a new job in the near future. It will be interesting to see if that new job comes with the Kansas City Chiefs.
