Just In: West Ham want to hijack Burnley target

With Divin Mubama no closer to agreeing to a new contract and his agents becoming more and more problematic, West Ham wants to finalize a deal for Callum Marshall.

Claret and Hugh have learned that the player and his agents stay in the same location over his demands for first team wages, despite high hopes that the teenager may get a run-out this weekend against Burnley.

It is therefore proving to be challenging for David Sullivan to meet the boy independently, just as he did with Jarrod Bowen. Naturally, there’s a chance the teenager will play this weekend at Turf Moor, and with Michail Antonio sidelined, he might be convinced to consider signing a new contract if given more opportunities.

In the interim, Callum Marshall, a rising star in the academy who has been playing fantastically for the Development team this season, is reportedly close to signing a new contract with the club. He appears to be the striker the team has been waiting for, but he will obviously need to get some playing time with the first squad as soon as possible.

Naturally, it is the manager’s responsibility to give him first team minutes in order to demonstrate his and the other academy members’ faith in him.
