Just In: Jay Stansfield Returning To Fulham

Marco Silva has confirmed that Jay Stansfield, who played on loan at Birmingham City this season, will be part of Fulham’s first-team plans for next season.

The youthful forward scored thirteen goals during a rocky loan spell at St. Andrew’s but was unable to keep the Blues from being demoted to League One last season.

Silva has long admired Stansfield’s skill, having seen him score his first Fulham goal in the League Cup against Birmingham during his first season in charge, and announced during his news conference earlier this afternoon that the 21-year-old will remain at Craven Cottage next season.

“He’ll be back with us next season. Everything we planned, except for Birmingham City’s collective aim [to avoid relegation], which we did not desire, was a box [ticked].

He played in League One the previous season [at Exeter City], so being able to take a step ahead in the Championship and be an essential piece in the offensive line while also scoring important goals was rewarding. Jay completed all of the important tasks. Now is the time for him to return and join our attacking line for the upcoming season.”
