Just In: Ipswich Target Turns Down Barcelona Offer
Hull City winger Jaden Philogene would like to join Ipswich Town over FC Barcelona, Everton, West Ham, and Crystal Palace, according to BBC Sport.
The Blues reportedly made a proposal of more than £30 million to capture him and teammate Jacob Greaves, who has been linked with both the Toffees and Premier League rivals West Ham.
Acun Ilicali, Hull’s owner, has confirmed that the interest in Philogene is legitimate, although transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano has subsequently stated that a move to Barcelona is unlikely because he desires to join a Premier League club.
According to BBC Sport, Ipswich are in ‘advanced talks’ for the 22-year-old despite interest from many established top-flight clubs, and the forward ‘believes a transfer to Ipswich represents the greatest choice at this stage in his career’.
According to the source, Town are ‘hopeful’ of completing a deal for the Tigers’ talisman, who scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 32 Championship games last season.
Aston Villa, who traded Philogene to Hull last summer, appear to be keen in re-signing him, but they face profit and sustainability constraints.
