Marvin Harrison Jr. played three seasons for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a two-time All-American and received the Fred Biletnikoff Award last season.

Harrison wasn’t the go-to man from the start. He took a back seat to current NFL wide receivers Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He caught 11 passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in his freshman year.

Wilson and Olave both left and were first-round picks in the 2022 draft. That paved the way for Harrison to have a big second season. He went on to make 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Harrison caught 67 catches last season, totaling 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy vote, trailing Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is Just What the Colts Need

Everyone knows that Marvin Harrison Jr.’s father, Marvin Harrison, is a Colts icon. He played his whole career in Indianapolis, becoming one of the greatest receivers in NFL history. He also contributed to the team’s Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears.

However, this is not the only reason the Colts should acquire Harrison Jr. They need him because he has the potential to be a top NFL receiver.

Indianapolis has a talented, youthful receiver corps. The roster features Michael Pittman Jr., who was re-signed this summer, Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce.

Adding the talented Harrison would dramatically strengthen the wide receiver room. The Philadelphia native boasts remarkable speed and acceleration, as well as excellent body control. He can punish defenses that attempt to cover him one-on-one.

Anthony Richardson, the Colts quarterback, missed the most of his rookie season due to a shoulder ailment. The fourth overall choice in last year’s draft will return to the field next season and is expected to be completely healthy. He’ll need an offensive weapon like Harrison to help him have a successful 2024 season.

Giving up a slew of draft picks to acquire Harrison is a dangerous move. Just because someone is predicted to be a star does not guarantee that he will be one. However, taking a chance on a generational talent like Marvin Harrison Jr. would be well worth it.
