Can the Huskers pull off another upset and land Sanders?

After acquiring five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from Georgia last year, can the Nebraska Huskers catch another big fish this recruiting season?

Nebraska has already shocked some by being one of four finalists for five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr., who is ranked as the top offensive lineman and best non-quarterback prospect in the whole Class of 2025 by 247Sports and many other recruiting services.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Big Red is a “real contender” for Sanders.

Wilfong briefly covered Sanders on his podcast on Monday, saying Sanders “loves the atmosphere and vibe around Matt Rhule’s program” and may return to campus before finalizing his decision on August 17.

Nebraska is fighting with Ohio State, Georgia, and Tennessee for Sanders. While the Huskers may not be on the same level as those programs right now, it does not appear to be affecting their chances.

“I don’t think any of the other contenders are sleeping on Nebraska,” Wiltfong claimed.

247Sports currently ranks Nebraska’s 2025 class as the 30th best in the country, but Sanders would single-handedly raise that rating significantly.

It remains to be seen whether the Huskers can pull off another surprise and snag Sanders, but the fact that Nebraska is even a genuine contender for these types of high-level prospects under Rhule is a positive indicator for the team moving ahead.
