Tennessee football and Josh Heupel have been active in the recruiting process.

The Vols moved into the top 15 in recruiting for the 2025 class with their most recent commitment, four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Utu was the 16th athlete to pledge to Tennessee in the 2025 recruiting class, and the seventh four-star prospect. While the summer months are often slow in college football, the Vols have been on fire, which may continue given their momentum.

On3 Recruiting’s Chad Simmons predicts that four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte will go from Georgia to SEC foe Tennessee.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker has committed to Georgia since December 8, 2022, but there is a lot of momentum from the Vols and other programs that could cause him to change his mind.

This forecast comes after Perlotte posted a photo in Orange and White clutching the BCS National Championship Coaches’ Trophy. His caption was simple, with three smiling face emojis.

On3, Perlotte is ranked as the No. 160 player in the USA, the No. 16 linebacker, and the No. 22 player in Georgia.

Perlotte has also earned an expert forecast from On3 Sports to switch to Florida State. Last year, On3 projected that Perlotte would switch to the Seminoles, but he chose to stay with the Bulldogs.

The Vols were not active in Perlotte’s recruiting until his visit to campus on June 14. He followed up his visit to Rocky Top with another to Athens, but he is set to go to Tennessee after seeing both campuses last month.

If Perlotte commits to the Vols, he will be the first commit for new-year linebackers coach William Inge, who came to Tennessee from Alabama. There’s no better way to begin his recruiting efforts than to secure the commitment of a consensus top-15 linebacker and top-200 player in the country.
