Just In: Colts elevate WR from practice squad to active roster

The Indianapolis Colts promoted wide receiver Ethan Fernea from the practice squad to the active roster for Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fernea, 6-0, 195 pounds, returned to the Colts on December 1, 2023, after taking part in the team’s offseason program and training camp in 2023. On August 5, 2023, he was placed on the Injured Reserve list. Fernea spent time on Indianapolis’ active roster and practice squad as a rookie in 2022.

In one game, he saw action. Fernea was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Colts on May 13, 2022. He played in 50 games (three starts) for UCLA (2016-21), catching eight passes for 155 yards (19.4 average) and two touchdowns. Fernea had ten carries for 83 yards (8.3 average) and one touchdown. He also had 12 tackles (nine of which were solo). His surname is spelled FIR-knee-uh.
