Just In: Celtic set to sign Ipswich transfer target

According to reports, Celtic have begun the process of signing Wolves transfer target Jake Clarke-Salter.

Last week, news came that the Scottish Premiership team, along with Wolves and a few Premier League and Championship clubs, were interested in signing the centre-back. Burnley, Crystal Palace, and Ipswich Town are all interested in recruiting the former Chelsea prodigy.

Celtic have made the first move to sign the defender, according to Football Scotland. The Scottish Premiership team’s recruitment staff has made ‘tentative’ contact with the player in order to learn more about his signing fee, willingness to join the club, and expectations.

Clarke-Salter is under contract at Loftus Road until the summer of 2026, giving the Hoops a strong negotiating position. The West London club is six points above the relegation zone, and if they remain in the second tier, he will be more likely to stay.

Clarke-Salter turned down the chance to play for Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers early on in his career. The Gers were managed by Liverpool veteran Steven Gerrard at the time, and Clarke-Salter went on to play in the Eredivise with Vitesse Arnhem. Game time was crucial to him at the time, and he used Mason Mount as an example. Clarke-Salter went on to play almost 100 Championship games.

In other news, Max Kilman stated that Wolves must carry the energy from their point against Burnley into their encounter against West Ham on Saturday. Rayan Ait-Nouri brought Wolves back on level terms after going behind the Clarets.

“We’ll be back at home, and it’s been a fortress this season, so we need to make sure we stay on top of it and go for it,” the captain told the official club website.

“We need to build on these games. We have eight more tough games ahead of us, but we need to be prepared. We have a few injuries, but some of the boys are returning, so we need to make sure we are prepared.”
