Just In: Bucs sign Georgia receivers coach

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers have hired Bryan McClendon as their wide receivers coach.

McClendon has spent the last two seasons coaching Georgia’s wide receivers and coordinating the passing game. This is his first NFL coaching position.

McClendon succeeds Brad Idzik, who accompanied Dave Canales to Carolina and became the Panthers’ offensive coordinator.

Todd Bowles’ son, Troy, plays linebacker at Georgia, so the Bucs’ head coach is familiar with the Bulldogs’ coaching staff.

McClendon, 40, also coached at Georgia from 2007 to 2015, in a variety of roles, including interim head coach. He served as offensive coordinator at South Carolina from 2018 to 2019, wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Oregon from 2020 to 2021, and interim head coach at Oregon in 2021 before returning to Georgia.
