Birmingham City are likely to sign Alex Cochrane.
According to Football Insider, the Blues are about to make another signing, with the left-back joining as part of the club’s redevelopment ahead of their first season back in League One.
The Midlands club has already made several acquisitions this summer, which is not surprising given how many players have left St Andrew’s since the end of the 2023/24 season.
Ryan Allsop and Bailey Peacock-Farrell have both arrived to fix the club’s goalkeeping situation, and they are much-needed additions, as John Ruddy and Neil Etheridge have both left the club when their contracts expired.
Alfie May is also a very significant addition, as his goalscoring performances for Charlton Athletic last season demonstrated just how dangerous he can be in front of goal.
With Blues in need of additional firepower in the final third, he may be an important signing for Chris Davies as the club looks to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.
Emil Hansson is their fourth and most recent summer addition, and it may only be a matter of time before they recruit additional players to add quality and depth to their roster.
It is believed that the Midlands club has a £20 million budget for the season, which should allow them to make a number of promising recruits before the summer transfer market ends in late August.
Birmingham City close to recruiting Alex Cochrane
According to Football Insider, Birmingham are closing in on Hearts left-back Cochrane, with a deal worth around £1 million believed to have been agreed.
With this transaction nearing completion, Cochrane is scheduled to travel to the Midlands this morning for a medical, which will bring him one step closer to joining the Blues.
After completing medical exams, he will finalize the deal before being unveiled, but it is unclear when he will be announced.
