Just In: Another Braves player enters injury list

When it comes to their wounded players, the Braves are starting to receive favorable comments.

A.J. Minter has just returned to the active roster. Michael Harris II is making good progress, and Ian Anderson and AJ Smith-Shawver have started their rehabilitation. Ramon Laureano, a somewhat unknown player, may join them on the IL.

Last week, Laureano was listed as questionable due to a back injury. It was not judged significant, and he is expected to miss only a small amount of time. However, Brian Snitker stated yesterday that the back condition is more of an oblique nature, and that an IL stay may now be required.

I never expected to be writing a mid-season post about the Braves missing Ramon Laureano, but that is the current status of the franchise. Due to a slew of ailments, the Braves’ back end looks like it belongs in Gwinnett. Laureano was looking for work not long ago, and he’s likely the second best choice to start in the Braves’ outfield right now, trailing just Jarred Kelenic.

Through 11 games with Atlanta, the 29-year-old veteran is hitting.257 with five extra-base hits and an OPS of.714.
